Arpeggios

What's an arpeggio? Sounds a bit complicated.

Well it's not.

Grab your guitar, or sit at your piano. Now put your hands in the position of playing a C chord, but DON'T play it just yet!

Now instead of playing it all at once, play it one note at a time. That's an arpeggio.

An arpeggio is simply a chord played one note at a time. They can be played staccato, so very short, sharp notes. They can be played fluently, so that it sounds smooth. They can be sustained so that all the notes ring out together. Either way it's an arpeggio.

Simple.
